The last days of our bike trip to Nepal

ILSE SHARING HER EXPERIENCE ON AN ENFIELD THROUGH INDIA

NOTHING CAN STOP A BULLET.

March 15, 2016

The last part of our trip to Nepal has been started, just 2 or 3 more days to go. The first part this day we had very good roads, so that was going well. While sitting this morning on the motorbike, I asked myself “If I should be a photographer, of which things should I make pictures?” And there were many many things/people/situations of which I would make a picture. So much beauty to see! I felt happy with it and it was heart opening.

After this, by a very little thing, I was confronted with feeling rejection and then my heart closed again and feeling helpless came over me. Suddenly I could really feel and understand where my feeling of helpless was coming from. Given away my power to get safety and love.

Repair Royal Enfield

Unfortunately we had to go to the mechanic again. Looking for a Royal Enfield mechanic people send us to a man, who was just sitting and smoking a cigarette. No bikes to see, while a real good Royal Enfield mechanic is always busy. My feeling said no, only my thoughts were saying “Where else to go?” But then Tilasmi came and he decided what I was thinking. And we went to look for  another mechanic. After some effort, just out of town there was a real Royal Enfield dealer with a workshop. So, a very good place for repair! An important lesson for me: If you don’t see a solution, follow your gut instinct and go for the best! I’m worthy.

We didn’t reach the place we would like because of the mechanic and the roads became worse. We found a nice hotel and had a nice dinner. An Indian guy came sit with us, because he never met foreigners before in his home city. It was a nice talk.

March 16, 2016 – Reaching Nepal

This day we were driving offroad for 150km! In the afternoon we finally reached the border with Nepal. The price for 30 days visa for Nepal is USD 40, only we didn’t have USD with us. The custom officers pretended this was a problem and there was no ATM nearby. So we could pay in Indian rupee which was about 110 USD for 2. And we could change it in USD until the next day before 10am. Only the banks only open after 10 AM!. Corruption… I was so naive about this, their behaviour made me angry. The ATM was 100 meters away and later on I read on the internet that we also were allowed to pay in Nepali rupee. This is how it works here…

We stayed for the night in the city near the border, not a nice place to be. A dark atmosphere is around this place.

March 17, 2016

At night I got fever and diarrhea.  At the same time I heard this was because there is a lot of stress linked to follow my own way in life. Despite I felt very sick, we decided to leave, it was not a place where I wanted to stay another day.

When we drove more into Nepal, it felt like coming home. The kindness of the people and the power of the mountains.

The road we had taken was not the best option at the end. The road became worse and then the road was blocked… we had to drive back through the mountains for at least an hour. One moment we fell down and we almost couldn’t get the bike up. So, quiet a trip. Then I felt so sick that, on a beautiful place in the mountains, I lay down. I felt the power of mother earth, great! In the afternoon we stopped, because I was too sick. We stayed in a poor little hotel.

March 18, 2016 – Reaching our final destination

The daughter of the hotel came several times just looking at us. I saw in here eyes the same fear as I know. After Tilasmi made a balloon for her, she showed more trust and was following me even to the toilet. We left at 7am and after one hour we visited again a mechanic. Then 30 km before we would reach our final destination, Bhaktapur, we almost got out of petrol. And because of the problems in Nepal we only could buy petrol in Kathmandu. So it was a little bit exciting if we would reach a petrol pump that was not closed in time. We did! Then we met the friends of Tilasmi and they brought us to the guesthouse were we’re staying. We had a nice dinner with their family.

SO 12 DAYS AND 2.500 KM DRIVING, FINALLY WE REACHED OUR DESTINATION IN NEPAL!

A once in a lifetime experience!
