FINALLY WE TOOK OFF
March 2, 2016
Day 1 of our bike trip from Goa to Nepal
We didn’t left with the motorbike at 4am, Tilasmi forgot to put petrol in the bike;) and everything was closed here at that time. And putting the luggage on the motorbike for the first time, took more time than we thought. Finally we left at 5.45am. When we took a break, suddenly a whole group of working people were dropped at the place. I didn’t feel comfortable, because as a tourist here you’re the attraction. I’m always afraid that people are going to do something bad to me. Now, I thought “Okay, do not run away immediately. Lets see what happens.” The people were just nice and curious.
After a few hours we took breakfast and while Tilasmi did a little nap, I felt useless with just sitting in the back of the motorbike. Then I realised that I wanted to express myself and was looking for what I could do. India has garbage everywhere and I like a clean environment. Only cleaning here looks like an impossible thing to do. And I felt ashamed to do it, because the Indian people were looking at me. I took my courage and said to myself “If I can just clean one square meter, than I made that place a little more beautiful.” So I did, at least two square meter;) and while picking plastic I was thinking that every piece has his own stories behind it. Through this expressing of myself I felt totally fulfilled and happy.
With the repair of the bike yesterday, the garage made a mistake with putting the carburettor back, so there was leaking petrol. After finding a garage in Nipani, we had to wait a few hours. While waiting I had to go to the toilet, only public toilets are most of the time not a nice place to visit here. So I was looking for another option. There was a little hospital and in the past I never would dare to do this. Now I went to the hospital and because I could not find a toilet I asked. After speaking with four people including a doctor, because he speaks English, a nurse brought me to a toilet in an old hospital room. Probably not used for a long time. Going to the toilet became a nice little adventure on his own.
Waiting at the garage, there was a little puppy in a bad condition. I thought “I can not take it with me, for this moment I can give it positive attention.” So I did. The puppy was very skinny and then I thought “Okay, what can I do?” I went looking for some food for the puppy and bought cookies. I know, not healthy, the shops are here just not the same as in Holland… The puppy was hungry and liked the cookies and I also could offer the people at the garage a cookie. So everybody happy;).
At 6pm we found a hotel to stay and we had driven today only 250 km…with a lot of little adventures. While immediately preparing for the next day my mind was very negative again, I needed some rest instead of pushing my boundaries. Then my mind became quiet again…
